!! How can I search for time records?

Applicable Versions: Single User Free, Single User Pro, Multi User Pro

CC Time offers a list view of your time records which is great for searching.

In the Free Version you can get to that list view by just clicking on the [[Reports]] Tab.

In the Pro versions, you’d click on the Reports Tab and then select the “Use Found Set” radio button at the top of the screen. Once you’ve selected “Use Found Set” you’ll see a “Search” button below it. You can also click on the other button visible “Go to X Records Found” to arrive at the same list view and just enter find mode by hand.

Finally, in all versions you can also arrive at this list view from the Log Time tab by clicking the “View As List” button right above the portal of filtered hours (make sure that some hours are showing up in the filtered hours portal).

!! When searching, why don't I see pop-up lists of clients, projects, etc.?

Applicable Versions: Single User Free, Single User Pro, Multi User Pro

The search screen (available from the Reports tab) offers two fields on top of each other for key items like Client, Project, etc. The first field (the one on the bottom) is the Key IDX field holding, for instance, the client ID number. This field is formatted to allow entry in Browse mode only and offers a value list of possible clients. When you move over to projects a corresponding value list presents only the projects for that client.

In find mode these conditional popup lists (”only the projects for that client”) don’t make sense. What if you’re only searching for a project name, having not entered a client, there is no list of that-client’s-projects to show you. So in Find mode we use a field displaying, for instance, the client’s name. These name fields are formatted without value lists so that you can more easily search by just typing in part of a name.

You are of course free to change these field behaviors and value lists to fit your own particular situation.
